And a very unmotivated me decides to search the answer as to why people feel unmotivated. And yes, it gotta do with this Maslow hierachy of needs theory. I learnt this during a communications module. So this part is kinda easy to understand.

Human beings have 5 level of basic need.
1)Physiological needs are the most fundamental for existence, like food, water, air.
2)Safety needs are the need to have a sense of security and know that things will be constant.
3)Love/belonging need is the need to feel love and belong. As such, people need to have friends.
4)Esteem need is the need to feel respected and appreciated by people.
5)Self-actualization is the need to pursue 'higher' things like creativity and perhaps a religion, higher calling.
The rule of this theory is such that the most basic need(which is physiological need) must be fufilled before people move up the pyramid to want to fufill other needs.
Which is very true, for example, You wouldn't want to pursue your self-actualization need(aesthetic appreciation, e.g: go for yoga classes) if you can't even fufill your physiological need( money to buy food).
And here's the link to how needs are connected to motivation.
There's this other theory known as The drive reduction theory. It states that if a need is not met continually, the drive to satisfy it increase. And if we satisfy it, the drive would reduce. For example, when you're hungry, the desire to eat would increase. But once you eat, the drive to eat will decrease. In this process, motivation or the drive would be form. Thus, in summary, motivation is the driving force to fufill your need. Motivation can be influenced both externally and internally. But i shall not overwhelm you guys with the vast info.

So back to me skipping school. Somewhere along the way
1) i must have either all my needs met and no motivation is needed to spur me on.
2) Or i feel disatisfied with the things i'm doing that i'm not motivated.
3) Or there isn't any tangible rewards.
Anyway, i felt so much better having some pyschological theory to back up my lousy excuse. And there's a motivation for me to go school. Mr Rajan is teaching us to sample different types of cheese tomo! The Aesthetic need to sample different kind of cheese is fuelled by motivation. :)
Heeheh. My daddy just brough me a 500gb hard disc and mummy agreed to buy me an Ipod. More motivation to carry on with life. We need a little motivation once in a while. right?
